In a landslide victory, Mohammed Kassim has been confirmed as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa-West District Assembly. The confirmation election, held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the assembly hall in Apam, saw Kassim secure 54 ‘Yes’ votes from assembly members and government appointees.
In his acceptance speech, Kassim emphasized the importance of unity in driving development in the district. “A district seeking development cannot succeed with a divisive front,” he stated, adding, “I will be a DCE for all.” He pledged to engage in broad consultations with stakeholders to foster inclusive leadership and collective decision-making.
The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin, commended Kassim on his overwhelming endorsement, stressing that the high number of votes polled translates to high expectations. “He must deliver and unite the people. It is only through unity that we can achieve the development we all desire,” Panyin emphasized.
The Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Gomoa-West, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, welcomed Kassim’s message of unity. “Just as the new DCE has pledged to serve all, I will also continue to be an MP for all. Together, we will work hard to develop our constituency,” he said.
Kassim is expected to assume office immediately and focus on key development priorities for the district. With the support of stakeholders, including traditional authorities, party executives, and government officials, the new DCE is poised to drive progress and growth in Gomoa-West.
