MTN Ghana has announced a major network investment programme as the company celebrates three decades of operations in the country.
Chief Risk and Compliance Officer Joseph Dogbe told a media and stakeholder forum in Wa that MTN Ghana is investing $1.1 billion over three years to enhance network capacity, improve service quality and strengthen infrastructure resilience. Approximately $318 million is being invested this year alone. The company is also deploying 500 new sites nationwide to extend coverage and improve quality of service.
MTN Ghana now connects 32 million subscribers across the country. Dogbe described connectivity as “super essential” for national progress and said every Ghanaian deserves the benefits of a modern connected life.
“We remain committed to building a stronger network, backed by real investment,” he said. He acknowledged that the journey had not always been smooth, noting periods when the network did not reach as far as intended or when services fell short of expectations. The company, he added, is grateful for the patience shown by customers while it improved.
Business performance has been strong, with revenues growing 32 per cent. Dogbe stressed that the true measure of success lies in the opportunities created for people rather than the numbers alone.
In the first half of 2026, MTN Ghana paid 5.6 billion cedis in direct and indirect taxes and a further 385 million cedis in fees and levies.
The forum formed part of activities marking the company’s 30th anniversary under the theme of progress powered by customers and communities.
