The National Democratic Congress (NDC) UK and Ireland Chapter paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, pledging their support for his vision. The group commended the Ministry’s proactive leadership and proposed collaboration on key initiatives.
The NDC UK & Ireland Chapter offered to help address accommodation struggles faced by Ghanaian migrants in the UK and proposed exploring opportunities for skilled workers, particularly teachers and construction workers, to benefit from structured migration partnerships. This comes as Ghanaian teaching certificates are now recognized in the UK.
The group also encouraged Minister Pelpuo to expedite the review of Ghana’s Labour Law, considering the proposed 24-hour economy and increased working hours to boost productivity.
Dr. Pelpuo welcomed the visit and suggestions, assuring the group that reforms are underway to modernize Ghana’s labor framework. He praised the Chapter’s commitment to national development and emphasized the importance of diaspora-government partnerships in building a resilient economy.
This collaboration highlights the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships between Ghana’s government and its diaspora community, driving development and economic growth.
