Wa, Upper West Region – Mohammed Abudi, a man from Guli community in the Wa Municipality, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for defiling a 13-year-old girl. The Upper West Regional Police Command confirmed Abudi’s arrest and successful prosecution in a press release issued on April 29, 2025.
According to the statement, Abudi committed the offense on April 11, 2025, with his arrest following just two days later on April 13. The case was heard at the Wa Circuit Court, where the accused pleaded guilty to the charge. On April 20, 2025, His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo handed down the seven-year sentence.
Mr. Michael Toya, ASP and Public Affairs Directorate for the Upper West Region, signed the release, which also included a stern warning from the Regional Police Command. Authorities urged potential offenders to desist from such crimes, emphasizing their commitment to combating sexual offenses in the region.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its dedication to ensuring justice for victims and maintaining safety in the Upper West Region.
