The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region has inaugurated a regional campaign team for the 2020 elections. This was done by the National Organiser of the party Joshua Akamba in the capital, Wa.
The team which is made up of 23 members were out doored in a short ceremony which brought together past government officials, cadres of the party and some parliamentary candidates in the region.
Addressing the teaming supporters of the party, Mr Akamba urged the campaign team to work hard for the party to win the forthcoming.
He underscored the importance of each member in the newly formed campaign team while he referred to the work of the 2016 campaign team as cosmetic due to the lack of cooperation that characterized the former campaign team in the region.
“Members of the past campaign team left the work for few members to do and it was like a cosmetic exercise but this one everybody is very important.” Mr Akamba said
Delivering the inaugural speech on behalf of the party’s flagbearer, the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Lawra constituency, Hon.Bede Ziedeng said the 2020 general elections is not merely a race to office but a race to save the very soul of mother Ghana.
“We have arrived at a critical junction in our efforts to rally our resources, both human and financial and to focus our energies on the task that is ahead”, Hon. Ziedeng stated.
According to Hon.Bede Ziedeng, the inauguration of the regional campaign team as well as the national campaign team is part of the process of forming a complete, robust and effective campaign structure that responds effectively to the prevailing dynamic of the political system of the NDC.
“We have been tasked by destiny with nothing less than pulling Ghana back from the edge of disaster,” Hon. Ziedeng said.
Additionally, he said that they are faced with executing a rescue mission to alleviate the hardship and suffering in the country.
“This is a rescue mission to hoard the corruption and collapse of our democratic institutions and restore hope and confidence in the future” Hon. Ziedeng noted.
He was hopeful that the team would grant the party a resounding victory come the 2020 general elections.
The 21-member campaign team has representation from the Regional Executive Committee, Youth Wing, former MMDCEs and appointees and the Women’s Wing.
The Campaign Team include Mr. Abdul Nasir Saani, Mr. Kwame Mumuni, Alhaji Issah Musah, Charles Lwanga Puozuing ESQ , Mr. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, Mr. Nicodemus NBD Dery, Hajia Cecilia Hamza, Prosper Puo-ire, Prince Razak Abdul Moomin Tachi, Moomen Abdul-Razak Gado, Ishmael Dibkuu, Issah Kantagyere.
The rest are Prof. Frances Bacho, Dr. Frances B. Dakurah, Hon. Ameen Salifu, Hon. Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani, Hon. Cuthbert Baba Kuupiel, Mathhew Song-aabo, Madam Jamilatu Ibrahim. Madam Sadia Gbollo, Erasung Iddrisu(Prof), Edmond S.K.Mangkyiri, and Ibrahim Saani.
