Dr Hafiz Bin Salih fulfills promise; supports division one outfit with GHS 10,000

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has made a personal donation of GHS 10,000 to support Wa Suntaa SC in their Division One League Campaign Monday, 15th December, 2021.

The donation is in fulfillment with a promise the Minister made at an occasion where the Regional Football Association presented a citation to him for his contribution towards the successful end of the 2020/2021 division two league season.

The Minister at the occasion announced a package of GHS 10,000 each for the two first division clubs in the region but one of the teams has since relocated to the Bono East Region.

Some officials from Wa Suntaa SC which include Daud Arif (President), Mubarak (Sporting Director) and Nurideen (Team Manager) honored an invitation by the Regional Minister to receive the cash amount.

Prior to the commencement of the 2020/2021 Division Two league, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih donated 29 set of Jerseys, 29 footballs and a cash amount of GHS 10,000 to the RFA as part of his contribution in the area of soccer.

According to him, football is the passion for the Upper West Region and that the series of donations he did including that of Wa Suntaa SC was meant to help improve the clubs as an avid supporter of soccer.

The Minister said he was ready to work towards harnessing the talent abound in a bid to deliver  a premiership club and was convinced it will happen in the shortest possible time if similar support is given to the clubs.

“You will recall that a few years ago, the Upper West Region used to have a premiership club known as Upper West Heroes later. Later we had Wa AllStars, but currently we are a region without a premier league club. I want to support the football clubs in the region so that in the shortest possible time, we will have a premiership club in the Upper West Region. With the talent abound in the region, I am convinced that if we are able to support these clubs, sooner than later, we should have a premiership club in the Upper West Region.” He said

He expected the division one side to use the donation judiciously as he won’t hesitate to come to their assistance if he marshal further resources.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih assured them of his continuous support as well as the Regional Coordinating Council to the effect of developing football in the region.

On the state of infrastructure in the region, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih revealed that the Minister of Youth and Sports will embark on a tour of stadia in Wa, Lawra and Tumu to assess the state of these structures and measures of improving them.

The Regional Football Association Chairman Alhaj Daud Sadugu Yahaya on behalf of Wa Suntaa SC expressed his profound gratitude to the Minister for the continuous support to the football community.

The Regional Football Chairman, Alhaj Daud Sadugu Yahaya led a delegation from Wa Suntaa SC to receive the package pledged by the Regional Minister.

He described as unprecedented, the level of commitment by the Minister towards mitigating the challenges bedeviling football clubs in the region.

Alhaj S.D Yahaya said “we have been grounded because of lack of support” while saying he was not surprise seeing the Minister fulfill yet another promise to the football circles.
