The ruling New Patriotic Party’s regional executive committee in the Upper West Region has resigned in protest at their choice to boycott the president’s visit.

Dr. Daniel Tanko, the regional secretary, revealed during a news conference today that following a discussion with the Regional Minister and other stakeholders, the region’s executive committee decided to reverse its decision.

The Regional Executive Committee has charged Dr. Bin Salih of concealing the planning of the tour of the area under the guise that it is official and nonpolitical.

Dr. Dauda disclosed that the Regional Minister is allegedly employing some former Regional and Constituency Executives of the party to carry out his agenda as a result of his refusal to attend a meeting organized by the executive committee.

The Regional Secretary said “Yesterday 17th August 2022, the regional executive committee at a meeting decided his excellency the president’s visit to the region was necessitated by the relations between the executive and the Hon Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.”

“Following Consultations with the Regional Minister and other party stakeholders and further to the love that members of the Regional Executives have for His Excellency the President, we have agreed to rescind the decision and retract the press statement that was issued yesterday.”

“Further to this we are urging all party supporters to get themselves ready to welcome his excellency the president to the region. We love our president and would welcome every opportunity that is offered us to receive him in the region.”

The claim made against him by Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party that he failed to include them in the planning of President Akufo-visit Addo’s to the region on Sunday, August 21, 2022, has since been regarded as shocking by the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.

As he regularly updated the Regional Chairman, First Vice, and Regional Secretary of the party on all decisions made during the President’s visit, he claimed he never turned his back on the party executives.

He stated that he had never kept anything from the executives secret and that he had always maintained contact with the party’s First Regional Vice Chairman, Alhaji, and Regional Chairman, S.B. Kangbere.
