The Wechiau District Hospital in the Wa West District has received a generous donation of medical equipment aimed at bolstering the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to the people of the constituency and beyond.

The equipment was donated by Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa West Constituency, as part of his ongoing support for the community.

In a ceremony held on Friday, June 16, 2023, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu handed over the medical equipment to the hospital administration.

Expressing his commitment to the well-being of the constituency, he highlighted the importance of these items in facilitating surgical procedures and improving overall healthcare services for both the constituents and the dedicated hospital staff.

The generous donation was made possible through contributions from friends and well-wishers residing abroad, who graciously provided the equipment for the constituency.

Hon. Toobu, recognizing the significance of accessible healthcare, emphasized that one of his key priorities as the Member of Parliament for Wa West is to focus on delivering quality and accessible healthcare services to the constituents.

In addition to the medical equipment, Hon. Toobu also pledged to install solar panels in three Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) facilities within the constituency.

These facilities currently lack electricity, and the installation of solar panels will greatly enhance their ability to provide reliable healthcare services.

The cost of installing the solar panels will be covered by the MP’s Social Intervention Funds, further demonstrating his commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.

Among the items donated to the Wechiau District Hospital were surgical gloves, disposable gloves, disposable theater gowns, surgical sutures, intravenous infusion (IVF), laboratory equipment, and various other medical supplies.

These contributions will significantly bolster the hospital’s capacity to deliver exceptional healthcare to the community.

Dr. Benjamin Aminyuure, the Medical Superintendent of the Wechiau District Hospital, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu for his unwavering support.

Dr. Aminyuure commended the MP for consistently prioritizing the hospital’s needs and affirmed that the donated equipment would greatly enhance their ability to serve the people effectively.

Mad. Cecilia Kakariba, the District Health Director of the Ghana Health Service, also expressed her appreciation for Hon. Toobu’s continuous support for the healthcare sector.

She commended his responsiveness and eagerness to assist whenever the health directorate sought his aid.

Mad. Kakariba particularly praised the MP’s promise to install solar panels in the CHPS zones lacking electricity, highlighting the positive impact it would have on the quality of healthcare services in the Wa West District and Ghana as a whole.

The Wechiau District Hospital and the constituents of Wa West are grateful for Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu’s philanthropic efforts and his commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery.

Through these donations and his ongoing support, he continues to make a significant difference in the lives of the people he serves, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated advocate for accessible and quality healthcare services in the constituency.
