The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment (MLJE) hosted the first National Labour Migration Technical Working Group Meeting of the year, bringing together key stakeholders to review institutional work plans from 2024 and develop new strategies for 2025 under the Labour Migration Institutional Work Plan (LMIWP).

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s main conference room, was attended by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, who delivered opening remarks and commended the committee members for their continued dedication and collaborative spirit.

In his address, the Minister acknowledged the natural desire of many Ghanaians to travel and work abroad. He emphasized the importance of the committee’s work, noting that it provides the necessary framework and insight to guide labour migration efforts in a structured and sustainable way.

“The work you’re doing gives us perspective—it helps us understand what needs to be done, and how best to do it,” he said. “As Minister, I’m here to support you and ensure we collectively achieve the purpose for which this committee was established.”

He concluded by expressing his gratitude to all members for their commitment and expressed optimism about the positive outcomes expected from the 2025 institutional work plans.

The Labour Migration Technical Committee plays a critical role in coordinating policies, programs, and stakeholder efforts aimed at promoting safe, orderly, and beneficial labour migration for Ghana. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to shape Ghana’s migration governance and labour mobility strategies in the coming year.
