A renowned contractor, Mr. Solomon Adombiiri Ameabuno, trading as Solodom Construction Limited, is undertaking the construction of a major 2,500-seater multipurpose dining hall and kitchen complex for the Brifor Senior High School (SHS) in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region. The contractor has pledged to deliver the project ahead of the official timeline.
According to him, within one month of the sod cutting conducted by the Member of Parliament for the Lawra Constituency, his team had already completed 20% of the works. He attributed this progress to the team’s determination despite the challenges posed by the rocky nature of the site, particularly during the excavation of the foundation.
This project is described as one of the largest dining facilities in Ghanaian SHSs. It is expected to serve not only as a dining space for students but also as a multipurpose venue for large gatherings and school activities. Funding for the project is being provided by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), with an estimated cost of GHS 11 million.
The contract was officially awarded to the contractor and sanctioned in April 2026, with a scheduled completion period of twelve months (one year). Mr. Solomon reaffirmed his commitment during an assurance that he could potentially hand over the facility in less than twelve months, even though, at the time of his statement, he had not yet received any payments from GETFund.
He made the pledge at the project site on Thursday, May 28, 2026, during an exclusive interaction with journalists, including Home Radio reporter Mr. Romanus Bombe Kyi-Era, as they traveled to Zukpire under the Kalsagri electoral area of the Lawra Municipality. Following the discussion, the journalists visited the site to assess whether construction activities were underway after the sod cutting had taken place only a month earlier.
Mr. Solomon also expressed his appreciation to the Brifor community for its support, noting that community members—particularly the youth—have provided assistance through the provision of laborers. He further stated that he has supported them with water storage tankers, while motivating them to maintain momentum in executing the works. He added that, to encourage faster progress, he has been paying the community laborers GHC 100 daily, instead of the GHC 70 normal rate
In addition, he pointed to his professional track record, citing several major projects he has delivered, including works at Bolgatanga Technical University, Pusiga Training College, St. Charles SHS, Banku West Assembly, and projects in Kumasi, among others.
