The current Upper West Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hamid Saana Mohammed, has formally declared his intention to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries for the Lambussie Constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement issued after wide consultations with senior party members, colleagues and key stakeholders, Mohammed said he was “honoured” to put himself forward for the seat. He highlighted his years of dedicated service as Regional Youth Organizer and now as Regional Organizer as key preparation for the role.
“I bring experience, commitment and a passion for purposeful leadership and development,” the statement read. “My mission is simple: Reconnect our people, rebuild our party’s strength and recapture the Lambussie seat in 2028.”
Mohammed has been a prominent figure in the NPP’s grassroots structures in the Upper West Region. His declaration comes as the party has opened a formal window for prospective parliamentary candidates to express interest, requiring online registration and a GH¢5,000 fee as part of early preparations for the 2028 primaries.
The Lambussie Constituency is currently held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Professor Titus Kofi Beyuo won the seat in the 2024 general election. The NPP last held the constituency in 2020.
Mohammed’s campaign slogan is “Let’s Win For The Masses.” He has positioned his bid around reconnecting with constituents and strengthening the NPP’s structures in the area.
The declaration of intent is an early step in what is expected to be a competitive process within the NPP as the party rebuilds and positions itself for the next general election cycle.
