MTN Ghana has once again demonstrated its commitment to education and youth empowerment through its prestigious Bright Scholarship Scheme. On September 8, 2025, the company awarded scholarships to 500 exceptional students and teachers across the country at a ceremony held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The scholarship scheme, which has been in existence since 2018, has supported 720 students nationwide, providing full financial support to pursue their academic dreams. This year’s beneficiaries include 187 female and 313 male students, with a focus on promoting gender equality and inclusivity. The program has produced remarkable results, with 10 valedictorians and best graduating students, 520 graduates with First Class Honours, and 94 who completed their degrees with Second Class Upper Division.

Dr. Isaac Mate, General Manager for Sustainability and Shared Value at MTN Ghana, described the scholarship scheme as a beacon of hope for students and families across the country. He emphasized MTN Ghana’s commitment to scaling the program to cover 1,500 beneficiaries over the next three years, with a renewed focus on students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), vocational and technical programs, as well as teachers seeking advanced training.

The program prioritizes inclusivity, with 33 differently abled students among this year’s recipients. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, praised MTN Ghana for its leadership in addressing inequality in education and called the Bright Scholarship a model initiative for private-sector-driven development
