The 4Ward Development West Africa (4WardWA), a private water System service provider commissioned a sustainable water system for two communities in the Daffiama Bussie Issa District of the Upper West Region.

4ward Development in collaboration with Water4 and Global Communities is providing potable water to the people in Upper West and Savanah Regions.

The company so far extended this safe treated Water Network to 5 Districts in Upper West Region namely Wa Municipal, Nadowli-Kaleo, Wa West, Wa East, and Daffiama Bussie Issa District.

After commissioning two water systems in Issa and Fian, three other beneficiary communities namely Tabiesi, Kojokperi, and Bussie would soon be connected and commissioned for use.

Speaking at a short ceremony to commission the NUMA safe Water System at Issa-Duori and Fian, the Upper West Regional Director of 4WardWA, Mr. Ahmed Yekini said commissioning the 4Ward Development West Africa’s safe, sustainable, innovative NUMA water services would not only reduce the suffering of the people particularly women but would also provide job opportunities for community members.

He expressed his appreciation to the donor partners; Global Community, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other partners for partnering with 4WARDWA for the successful construction of these two water systems in the district in addressing water challenges in the selected areas.

According to him, the community water infrastructure was created to offer safe, treated water delivery alternatives to fulfill consumer demands, and it comprised private connections for homes, clinics, schools, and businesses in addition to walk-up public fetch stations run by merchants.

Having a Numa-filtered Clean Water System in the DBI District, he observed, will aid in the eradication of any waterborne diseases in the numerous communities located within the district.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda commended 4ward Development on behalf of the district for delivering a reliable water system to alleviate water shortages.

Despite the Assembly’s sincere efforts to address the water shortage in localities, Nadi Imoro Sanda claimed, the Assembly still needs the assistance of these businesses to address the water challenges because it is impossible for the Assembly to address the issue entirely on its own.

The District Chief Executive further urged residents to construct household toilet facilities in order to help end open defecation for the benefit of the district and to entice donors and investors to support the district.

He nevertheless urged the beneficiary communities to take care of it to preserve the facility and stop any unauthorized system failure.

The effort from the 4ward development was met with enthusiasm from some inhabitants in the project areas.
