The Paramount Chief of Busa Traditional Council, Naa Ali Seidu Pelpuo, has appealed to the government through the Upper West Regional Health Directorate to upgrade the Busa Health Center to a polyclinic. The chief cited the growing population of the area and the need for the facility to be upgraded to meet the increasing demands.
Naa Ali made the appeal on Friday, April 25, 2025, during the celebration of World Malaria Day in Busa, which was organized by the Regional Health Directorate in conjunction with AngloGold Ashanti (AGA Malaria Control Program). The theme for the celebration was “Malaria ends with us; reinvest, reimagine, reignite.”
The Busa Health Center serves not only the local community but also adjoining communities within the catchment area and even the Wa East District. The chief expressed gratitude to the Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service for celebrating World Malaria Day in Busa and called on the authorities to address other needs of the center to ensure efficient healthcare delivery.
The Wa Municipal Health Director, Dr. Alex Bapula, assured the Busa Naa that plans have already been advanced to upgrade the facility. He commended Naa Ali Seidu Pelpuo for his kindness and humility in supporting the Ghana Health Service in promoting healthcare delivery in the Wa Municipality and the region.
The Regional Head of Programs for AGA Malaria Control Program, Mr. Malik Kofi Asan, emphasized the need for collective effort to eliminate malaria and commended the Busa community for their serious efforts in Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercises, noting that they are the highest performers in the region.
