Why I Unreservedly Endorse Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin’s Bid for NPP National Treasurer
The race for the National Treasurer position of our great New Patriotic Party (NPP) is shaping up to be one of the most critical contests ahead of us. In times like these, we do not just need someone to occupy the office; we require proven competence, strict fiscal discipline, and unyielding loyalty. As a member of the National Council and someone who has dedicated years to the growth of our party, I believe it is my responsibility to stand up and point the party towards leadership we can trust. This is why I have stepped forward to publicly and unreservedly endorse the candidature of Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin.
In politics, words can be cheap, but first-hand experience speaks volumes. For years, I had the privilege of serving as the Upper West Regional Minister. During that time, Dr Tahiru Moomin served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Wa Municipal Assembly. As his immediate boss and direct supervisor, I did not just watch his progress from afar; I oversaw his daily work, his decision-making, and his leadership under pressure.
There is no greater testament to a person’s integrity and capability than when the very leader who supervised them steps forward to champion their advancement. My backing of Dr Tahiru is not born out of political convenience; it is rooted in a firsthand, years-long appreciation of his strict adherence to public financial management laws and his unwavering fiscal responsibility while overseeing the Wa Municipal Assembly. I have witnessed his discipline up close, and I hold profound confidence in his capacity and leadership acumen.
During our collaborative years at the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, our administrative synergy was exemplary. Together, we drove key development projects in the Wa Municipality. Dr Tahiru has been in the trenches with me and many others. On two occasions (2012 & 2016), he served as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa Central Constituency. He understands the financial mechanics required to run a large political organisation, a skill set sharpened by his extensive corporate finance background and his impactful tenure with institutions such as the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
What makes Dr Tahiru’s candidacy truly exciting for me is how it bridges the gap within our party. By bringing my perspective from my experience in NPP affairs alongside the overwhelming support he enjoys on the ground, his campaign is doing something extraordinary: it is seamlessly uniting regional grassroots loyalty with high-level national confidence. He is a candidate who remains entirely accessible to the ordinary party faithful, yet commands immense respect within the party hierarchy.
As nominations approach, the momentum behind Dr Tahiru is becoming undeniable. The growing enthusiasm across various party networks is a clear sign that his message is hitting home. The NPP needs a National Treasurer who combines sophisticated financial expertise with a deep-seated love for the party’s foot soldiers. Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin embodies this perfect blend.
As his former boss and a committed leader of this party, I am entirely convinced that Dr Tahiru is the formidable, trustworthy leader we need to safeguard and manage our party’s resources. He has my full, unreserved endorsement, and he definitely deserves your support, too.
When Allah is in control, success is guaranteed.
