U/W/R: Minister admonish MDCEs to be Humble and Respectful

Eight (8) confirmed Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Upper West region who haven been confirmed by their various assemblies were sworn into office at Sem-B Lodge in Wa on Wednesday 13th October.

The Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafis Bin Salih in his speech admonished the newly sworn in District Chief Executives to be humble and respectful since it is a necessary ingredient to ensuring tranquility which would largely transcend into the development of their various assemblies.

The Regional Minister also went ahead to advise them to eschew the tendency of amassing wealth but rather be focused on serving the people in order to propel development.

“You have the singular and onerous duty to strive to improve the well-being of your people.”

Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih was emphatic that the municipal and district chief executives must take issues of security, illegal mining, sanitation and how to improve the financial base of the districts or municipalities through internal generated funds (IGF).”

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn in MDCEs, Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomen, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the assembly members and the president for reposing confidence in them.

He also pledged their resolve to help the president execute his agenda which would culminate in the development of their various jurisdictions.

Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih finally ceased the opportunity to announce that the president has renominated Hon. Martin Bomba-Ire and Christine Bombanye Amadu as MCEs for Lawra and Jirapa Municipalities respectively.

They were unable to garner the required votes at their respective assemblies during their confirmation.

The newly sworn in MMDCE’s include Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, Wa Municipal Assembly; Madam Katherine Lankono, Nadowli-Kaleo District; Mr Nalure George Gerard, Lambussie District; and Mr Nadi Imoro Sanda, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District.

The rest are Madam Ayisha Imoro Batong, Sissala West District; Mr Fuseini Yakubu Batong, Sissala East Municipality; Mr Nero Raymond, Nandom Municipality; and Dr Ewurah Suleman Kandia, Wa East District.
