The Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to fostering unity and lasting peace among his constituents, stressing that “peace” remains the surest foundation for meaningful development. He made the appeal when he joined members of the Muslim community at Baayiri to celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
Speaking further, Dr. Jasaw highlighted the importance of community dialogues as a vital pathway to strengthen social cohesion and to prevent conflicts and misunderstandings in every society. He urged all religious bodies and traditional authorities to champion unity and peaceful coexistence throughout the district, arguing that such efforts are essential to reduce chieftaincy and land-related disputes. In his view, religious and ethnic tolerance is not optional but paramount in every community and environment.
The MP expressed deep appreciation to the Baayiri community for their support and collaborative spirit toward his parliamentary stewardship. He assured residents that the Baayiri road route from Gonuo to Kpara has been awarded to a contractor for construction, and that work is expected to commence within the shortest possible time. He also pledged to drill a mechanized borehole for the community and to address educational challenges by providing desks and other learning materials to enhance teaching and learning in local schools.
Dr. Jasaw, however, appealed to the people to exercise patience with the current government, encouraging them to remain steadfast and hopeful as developmental interventions are rolled out in the community.
In a remark, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adamu Saibu, who accompanied the MP for the prayers, also reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to the construction of the road awarded to the contractor. He assured the community that the Assembly will collaborate closely with the contractor to ensure work begins in the coming days.
