On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Daffiama Bussie Issa (DBI), Hon. James Wor, officially handed over 10 delivery beds and a newly renovated doctor’s bungalow to the District Health Directorate. This significant initiative is set to enhance maternal healthcare services and bolster staff retention within the district.
The handover ceremony underscored crucial focus areas for healthcare in the district, particularly maternal care. To this end, the 10 delivery beds were strategically distributed to health centers and CHPS compounds, aiming to significantly improve maternal safety and facilitate swift deliveries. Furthermore, staff accommodation remains a key concern in the district, especially the bungalow designated for a medical doctor at Issa Polyclinic. The refurbishment of this doctor’s bungalow is a vital component of an ongoing effort to provide suitable housing, thereby encouraging health professionals to reside and work comfortably within the district.
In related news, renovation work at Sazie CHPS Compound is also underway and nearing completion, which will soon grant residents of Sazie access to enhanced healthcare services. Additionally, the DCE commissioned a borehole for the Chiefs and people of Sazie. This particular borehole is one of six drilled by the District Assembly across various communities to ensure widespread access to potable water.
In a brief speech preceding the ceremony, the DCE conveyed his deep concern regarding the state of delivery beds in the district, a situation he observed during his initial tour upon assuming office. He poignantly described the conditions of delivery beds in some health facilities as an eyesore, noting that midwives in certain areas were forced to use stones to stabilize beds for women in labor.
Hon. James Wor reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the District Health Director and the entire community of Daffiama Bussie Issa district, pledging to deliver enhanced healthcare services to residents across all communities.
District Health Director mad. Genevieve Yiripare extended her profound gratitude to the DCE for his kind and unwavering support in advancing the health of the district’s populace. She, in turn, assured the DCE of diligent maintenance and proper utilization of all donated items.
