A young politician and entrepreneur, Salvius Beni has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region, promising to bring energy, discipline, grassroots mobilization, and fresh ideas to the party’s regional administration.
In a statement announcing his bid, Mr. Beni said his decision was driven by “a deep sense of duty, humility, and commitment” to the NDC and its ideals of unity, grassroots empowerment, and progressive leadership.
Born and raised in Wa to Albert Beni and Vivien Nuzagl, both educationists and active members of the NDC, Salvius Beni says politics and the values of the party formed an integral part of his upbringing. According to him, his passion for politics began at an early age and was greatly inspired by the late Hon. Edward Salia, whom he affectionately referred to as “Uncle Salia.”
“Raised by politically active parents, the doctrines of the NDC were inculcated in me from childhood, making me no stranger to the party,” he noted.
His leadership journey began during his days at St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary, where he was elected Vice President of the Jirapa Area Students Union (JASU). He later rose through the ranks of student politics at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), serving first as Secretary of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) in 2019 before being elected President of TEIN UPSA for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Under his leadership, TEIN UPSA recorded what he described as an unprecedented electoral performance for the NDC during the 2020 general elections, with the party winning two out of the three polling stations on campus.
Mr. Beni also spearheaded several initiatives aimed at strengthening the student wing of the party, including the establishment of the TEIN Fund, rebranding activities, outreach programs in hostels and classrooms, and collaborations with party stalwarts such as Hon. John Dumelo and Hon. Edem Agbana. He credited guidance from Mr. Malik Basintale and support from Prof. Fred Awaah, now Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, for helping make TEIN UPSA one of the most vibrant intellectual branches of the NDC nationwide.
Beyond student politics, Mr. Beni served as a Research Assistant to former Chereponi MP, Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, from 2019 to 2021. He later worked with Empire Domus as Project Manager and Procurement Officer between 2021 and 2025, where he gained experience in stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and administration.
Currently, he is the founder and manager of ALSALSY Limited, an infrastructural development company specializing in road construction, building construction, plumbing and sewerage systems, energy transmission, real estate, and goods supply.
Mr. Beni revealed that he also contested for the position of National TEIN Coordinator of the NDC after the party’s National Youth Conference in Cape Coast in 2022 but was unsuccessful. He believes the experience further strengthened his resolve and commitment to serving the party.
Outlining his vision for the Deputy Regional Secretary role, he pledged to improve communication between the national, regional, constituency, and branch levels of the party while promoting transparency, discipline, teamwork, and effective mobilization.
“It is with this track record that I present myself for election to the high office of Deputy Regional Secretary,” he stated. “I seek the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to complement the tireless leadership of the Regional Secretary and help consolidate the gains of the governing NDC while sustaining the party’s 11/11 victory in the Upper West Region in 2028 and beyond.”
Mr. Beni further appealed to delegates and party faithful to support his candidacy, emphasizing that his ambition is rooted in service, responsibility, and commitment to the collective success of the NDC.
His campaign is being championed under the themes “Unity, Stability and Development,” alongside the slogans #WorkingForAndWithYou and #TheUpperWestProject.
