On Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, donated 1,400 Modern mono desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for onward distribution, aiming to alleviate the furniture shortages affecting schools across the municipality. The MP had previously pledged 2,000 desks; with the first 1,400 now ready, the remaining 600 will be delivered as soon as the contractor completes them.
This timely intervention is expected to significantly improve classroom conditions in schools where inadequate furniture has forced some pupils to share desks, while others are left to sit on the floor during lessons.
This shortage has raised serious concerns regarding the learning environment in the affected schools, with authorities warning that such conditions could severely undermine effective teaching and learning.
While presenting the desks to the Jirapa Municipal Education Directorate, Hon. Cletus stated that the donation reflects his unwavering commitment to supporting education and enhancing learning outcomes within the municipality.
He further pledged to continue supporting initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges confronting schools, thereby creating a more conducive environment for both teaching and learning.
Earlier in the day, the MP, in collaboration with the district assembly and led by the MCE, Hon. Peter N. N. Tu-aga, officially handed over several completed classroom projects in various communities. These included two crèche blocks at Sietori and Ul-Gozu, as well as a JHS block with auxiliary facilities for the people of the Siiri Community.
The Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Gana III, on behalf of his people, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for his dedicated support and humble commitment to the development of the Jirapa Municipality across all sectors. He particularly commended the focus on the educational sector, which aims to drive school improvements and foster effective learning throughout the municipality.
